Alopecia or hair loss refers to a loss of hair from a part of the head or the body. It mostly affects the head (scalp). The severity of hair loss can vary from a small area to the entire body. Alopecia affects both males and females.

Causes:

  • Abnormality in the immune system that damages hair follicles
  • Thyroid disease
  • Vitiligo
  • Lupus
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Ulcerative colitis
